Where are my favorite Cheeseburgers?

One of my favorite things to eat is a cheeseburger. I am crazy about cheeseburgers. I could be in the minority when I say that I would always prefer to eat a cheeseburger over a steak. Not many things in life fill me with as much joy as biting into a perfectly cooked cheeseburger. I have had burgers all over Colorado and I will rank them along with my experience at my favorite spots.

Best cheeseburger in Colorado goes to, My Brothers Bar 2376 15th Street Denver CO 80202. This is technically the oldest bar in all of Denver (145 years). They provide no signage outside the restaurant causing this to be a hidden gem. When you order a burger here you will get it served on top of a tackle box of toppings you can add yourself. The toppings are your typical fare. Lettuce, tomato, onions pickles etc. I recommend the “Johnny Burger.” Comes with jalapeno cream cheese, American cheese and Swiss cheese. Ever since I have had this burger, I have added multiple slices of cheese to any homemade burger. The combination of hand crafted beef seasoned perfectly with multiple cheeses and a bun that doesn’t over power the sandwich is what wins.

A very close second place for me is the Skirted Heifer 204 N Tejon Street Colorado Springs CO 80903. You are probably asking yourself, what is a skirted heifer? Well, the skirt refers to the cheese that is put on top of the patty. This is about two times the size of the burger itself. Resulting in a skirt of cheese around the burger. Its amazing. First few times I had this cheeseburger I ate the melted cheese that surrounded the burger first. That is until I watched my father fold the skirted cheese back into the burger under the bun. My father teaches me knew things all the time and loves cheeseburgers as much as I do. His wisdom with how to handle this was amazing to watch the first time. Made a great burger even better. One other highlight from this joint is the homemade ketchup. Its not as sweet as traditional ketchup and has a good little kick at the end.

My next favorite cheeseburger is in the mountains of Colorado. Empire Burger 500 S Main Street Breckenridge CO 80424. This spot was voted the best burger of “The Summit” for good reason. This burger is cooked with a lot of attention to detail. They give you a lot of options for toppings and have a ton of different fry dipping sauces you can add to any order. Anyone that travels to Breckenridge needs to find this spot.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my favorite fast food cheeseburger options as well. These burgers don’t rank as high as the burgers I just mentioned. But I feel like they need their own spot in ranking.
